Welcome to Integration Studio: Building Your Foundation for Dayforce Integrations
đ Why This MattersÂ
Integration is at the heart of a connected workforce experience. Whether youâre syncing HR data from external systems, exchanging payroll updates, or automating onboarding workflows â Dayforce Integration Studio is your command center.Â
This month, as part of the Integration Challenge, weâll walk you through Integration Studio step by step. Each week youâll learn new concepts, apply them through hands-on exercises, and showcase what youâve built to the community.Â
Letâs begin with the basics: getting access, exploring the home page, and understanding what the dashboard tells you.Â

đ Step 1: Access and RolesÂ
Before diving in, make sure your user's role includes permissions for Integration Studio.Â
In the Dayforce Admin Portal, you can verify or assign this under:Â
To add Integration Studio to your role:Â
-
Go to System Admin > Roles.Â
-
Select your role, and then click the Features tab.Â
-
Locate and expand Integrations > Integration Studio > Connectors > Build My Own/Event Driven, and select the checkbox for all feature options.Â
-
Locate and select Integrations > Integration Dashboard and select the checkbox.Â
-
Locate and select the System Admin > Background Jobs > Job Logs role feature.Â
-
(Optional) In the Features tab, you can select the Integrations > Integration Studio > View IDL role feature as well.Â
-
Click Save.Â
 Â
This ensures you have the rights to:Â
-
View and configure integrationsÂ
-
Access dashboardsÂ
-
Manage inbound/outbound flowsÂ
If youâre not seeing âIntegration Studioâ in your menu, contact your Dayforce admin to confirm access.Â
đĄ Pro Tip: Create a dedicated sandbox user with Integration Studio access if you plan to test configurations without affecting production environments.Â
Â
đ§ Step 2: Explore the Integration Studio HomeÂ
When you open Integration Studio, youâll see a clean, grid-based interface. This is your control center.Â
When you first go to Integration Studio, and there are no existing integrations, the Create Integration button and the Import Integration button are shown at the center of the page. You can create a new integration by clicking Create Integration, or you can import an integration by clicking Import Integration.Â
If any integrations have been configured, they are shown in a list.  Â
The list displays the name, status of the last run, and other useful information for each integration. Click on the status of any completed integration to see detailed job log and parameters of information. The action icon on the far-right offers a menu of possible actions to take for that integration, such as edit, run, export etc.Â
Â
Â
đ Step 3: Understand the Integration DashboardÂ
The Integration Dashboard gives you a top-level view of your integration health.Â
The Dashboard displays integration logs from multiple sources:Â
-
Dayforce BJE: All import and export integrations configured outside of Integration Studio, such as the Accrual Export and HR Import.Â
-
HCM Anywhere API:Â All calls to an HCM Anywhere API, including those required to run outbound integrations configured in Integration Studio.Â
-
Integration Processor: All integrations that were configured in Integration Studio.Â
Â
It typically includes:Â
-
Execution Summary for integrations run in the past week.Â
-
Status Indicators: Visual cues (green = successful, yellow = warning, red = failed).Â
-
Quick Actions: Buttons to restart failed jobs, download logs, or view recent executions.Â
Use the filters to find failed integrations and review the logs.Â
𧩠The dashboard isnât just for visibility â itâs your first line of troubleshooting. If something fails, this is where youâll spot it first.Â
Â
đ§Ș Try It YourselfÂ
This week, your challenge is to get hands-on with Integration Studio:Â
-
Verify that you have the right permissions and role assignment.Â
-
Log into Integration Studio from your Dayforce environment.Â
-
Explore the Home page and Dashboard.Â
-
Take a screenshot of your dashboard showing your integration runs.Â
Save that screenshot â youâll use it in your Week 5 Showcase!Â
Â
âïž What Youâll Learn NextÂ
In Week 2, weâll move from setup to design â planning your data flows, working with filters, arrays, and APIs, and creating your first mapping plan.Â
By the end of that session, youâll know how to take a business need (âsync new hires dailyâ) and translate it into a structured data flow that Integration Studio can execute.Â
Â
đŹ Join the DiscussionÂ
