This guide explains how to enable Integration Studio and assign the required role access to get started.Integration Studio requires a user to have specific role feature options configured.Important: Users with access to Integration Studio can generate and send data that might include Personal Identifiable information (PII) as well as rates of pay. Please ensure that this feature is enabled only for roles that are assigned to users who can be trusted with this type of information.Role feature access:  Required: Integrations > Integration Studio (By default, users who have access to the Integrations feature and to the Integration Studio feature will have the Connectors feature and the Build My Own/Event Driven sub-feature enabled for their user role.) Important: You must have both the Integrations feature and the Integration Studio feature enabled for your user role to have access to the Connectors feature and to the Build My Own/Event Driven sub-feature. For example, if the Integrati

This guide provides a basic understanding about Integration Studio.Integration Studio offers you a robust, multipurpose, user-friendly solution where you can create, manage, and monitor integrations between Dayforce and other systems. Historically, users had to configure integrations manually through complex XML and XSLT mappings, or have their integrations coded and managed by Dayforce’s data exchange teams.Using Integration Studio, you can configure inbound and outbound integrations to and from Dayforce through an intuitive and low-code experience. It allows you to build your imports and exports to accommodate the various data mapping and transformation requirements typically seen for data exchange across systems through a simple, step-by-step process.Inbound Integrations: You can use inbound integrations to import data into Dayforce from external system that can't follow the standard Dayforce import specifications. Integration Studio retrieves the source data based on the type of in

What is IDL (Integration Description Language)? Integration Studio uses a custom scripting language, Integration Description Language (IDL), to map and transform data. Source data and integration configuration are converted into one mapping file and two schema files prior to running the integration and generating the output.IDL SchemaSchema files are used to describe the structure of the source and destination data as well as to define key settings. All schema files start with an opening schema block, followed by an id (Destination or Source) and metadata, such as type and delimiter. Metadata values vary based on output settings defined in Step 2. Next, the schema file defines the fields and settings for each.IDL MappingMapping files contain instructions to generate output for each field in the integration, as well as any configured local filters and field formatting. All mapping files open with a mapping block, containing a root. The root contains the fields as defined and configured

Alternatives: API POST (partner endpoint) for integrations generating JSON payloads, or DF LINK. Credential storage: Add SFTP credentials in Integration Studio using secure storage; store private keys fo

IDL allows you to clean, reshape, and calculate data dynamically as it moves between Dayforce and external systems. Lab – Build Your Field Mapping (60–90 min)  Open your integration and navigate to Map Fields.  Define your destination structure for the CSV output. Include headers such as: EmployeeID, FullName, HireDate, WorkLocation  Use Autofill from Source (if using a report), import a sample file, or manually add destination fields with matching data types.  Select the appropriate source for each destination field.  Try to include at least one field with direct mapping from s

You’ll learn how schemas control validation and how to align field data types with Dayforce expectations. Source Types  API Sources: Use Dayforce HCM Anywhere APIs (like Employee Bulk API) to pull live data.  File Sources: Use CSV, XML, or JSON files uploaded to the Dayforce SFTP Import folder.  Reports: Use existing Dayforce Reports via the Analytics Data Connector.  Tip: For repeatable integrations, APIs are preferred for flexibility and automation; reports are best for quick validation or one-time exports. Lab – Configure Your Source (30-45 min) Select Build My Own (Outbound) or Inbound connector type based

🌟 Why This Matters Integration is at the heart of a connected workforce experience. Whether you’re syncing HR data from external systems, exchanging payroll updates, or automating onboarding workflows — Dayforce Integration Studio is your command center. This month, as part of the Integration Challenge, we’ll walk you through Integration Studio step by step. Each week you’ll learn new concepts, apply them through hands-on exercises, and showcase what you’ve built to the community. Let’s begin with the basics: getting access, exploring the home page, and understanding what the dashboard tells you. 📘 Reference: Full Dayforce Integration Studio Administrator Guide 🔑 Step 1: Access and Roles Before diving in, make sure your user's role includes permissions for Integration Studio. In the Dayforce Admin Portal, you can verify or assign this under: To add Integration Studio to your role:  Go to System Admin > Roles.  Select your role, and then click the Features tab.  Locate and expan
