Hi all! I have come across some TAFW End Point Issues that I'd like to discuss
The TAFW GET endpoint doesn't return an XRefCode for user-entered records — anyone found a workaround or able to escalate to DF?
We've found that the DF REST API GET /Employees/{xRefCode}/TimeAwayFromWork
The endpoint returns an empty TAFWXRefCode for any TAFW record created manually in the UI (only records POST via API seem to get one populated if its left omitted or blank).
This makes it impossible for external systems to PATCH/update those records later since there's no identifier to reference, even though DF clearly assigns an internal ID to every TAFW record (as seen in reporting module) (it just doesn't get exposed in the response).
The integration we have been designing is to PATCH & POST new TAFW records based on external validations. In some cases it may update the status, or times, in other cases it will cancel a record and create a new entry. This is all not possible without a uniuqe id
Sample DATA:
User Entered Record Example:
"TAFWXRefCode": "",
"DateOfRequest": "2026-09-02T09:55:00",
"TimeStart": "2026-09-09T00:00:00",
"TimeEnd": "2026-09-13T00:00:00",
"NetHours": 24.000,
"ReasonName": "Annual Leave",
"PayAdjShortName": "Annual Leave",
"AllDay": true
},
API POSTED Entered Record Example:
{
"TAFWXRefCode": "abc",
"DateOfRequest": "2026-09-04T14:26:00",
"TimeStart": "2026-06-30T00:00:00",
"TimeEnd": "2026-07-01T00:00:00",
"NetHours": 6.000,
"EmployeeComment": "New Patch",
"ReasonName": "Annual Leave",
"PayAdjShortName": "Annual Leave",
"AllDay": true,
"HalfDay": false
},
API POSTED Entered Record Example with a blank TAFWXRefCode value:
- (As you can see DF does increment and display a value but only for blank posted examples....)
{
"TAFWXRefCode": "DF_118",
"DateOfRequest": "2026-09-04T15:58:00",
"TimeStart": "2026-05-30T00:00:00",
"TimeEnd": "2026-06-01T00:00:00",
"NetHours": 7.000,
"EmployeeComment": "SZ Test Blank",
"ReasonName": "Annual Leave",
"PayAdjShortName": "Annual Leave",
"AllDay": true,
"HalfDay": false
},
I believe if DF wants to improve its API capabilities this is a critical requirement and allows for more complex integrations to be possible with managing and syncing TAFW records with external systems.
