Hello,

I have gone through Developer API portal, hopefully I could get some help here.

1. Do we have an API to retrieve timesheet problems for a period of time for a specific employee ?

2. an API to validate critical problem, such as pay adjustment overdrawing a balance ?

3. does all critical problem prevent timesheet from saving, or that behavior can be configured?

thank you,

Informational problem

pay adjustment overdraw a balance

Answer to 1: For Employee Punches, can you try https://developers.dayforce.com/Build/API-Explorer/Time-Management/Punches/Employee-Punches.aspx <link stripped through migration>. There is a Status field, which you can get Punch Status, you can use the filter to drill down the time period and also get Exceptions in the result.

Answer to 2: Normally, pay adjustment validation is done using GETEmployeeBalance to get the balance amount and then applying the related pay adjustment if the balance is available to avoid overdrawing.

Answer to 3: Yes, Critical problems prevent timesheet from saving. This is configurable in Time Entry Policy --> Problem Configuration, but pay adjustment overdraw limit critical error is grayed out from editing/modifying in the Problem Configuration

@Chhiving Yang - There is currently no public API endpoint that returns a full timesheet object along with its associated problems as displayed in the Dayforce UI.

The EmployeePunches endpoint can return shifts in a PROBLEM state when the issue is attached to a punch or shift record. However, scenarios such as unworked scheduled shifts (where no punch exists) or certain informational validations may not be retrievable through this endpoint. Additionally, while the Pay Adjustments API successfully creates adjustments on a timesheet, it does not trigger the same recalculation and validation workflow that occurs within the UI. As a result, problems that would normally be generated during UI processing may not be produced via API interaction alone. Since there is no publicly available API to trigger timesheet recalculation, partners typically implement external validation logic by retrieving scheduled shifts and punches for a period and performing reconciliation to identify unworked shifts or discrepancies.

    Thanks Aravin.

#1: Will need some more pointer on how to retrieve exceptions. Here is the response we got from the suggested GET Employee Punch API for a timesheet that has "informational" problem.

Would it be possible to produce timesheet problems without punches? i.e., unworked shift ? then just punch API won't allow us to validate those. Ideally, we would like a way to load the Timesheet and its problems for a period of time. Is there such thing we could try, please?

    GET https://stage.dayforcehcm.com/Api/dsppagileastage/V1/EmployeePunches?employeeXRefCode=260206035852857&filterTransactionStartTimeUTC=2026-02-01T00:00:00&filterTransactionEndTimeUTC=2026-02-08T00:00:00

#2: We would like to validate for the Timesheet problem being produced, so will need to add pay adjustment on the timesheet. The API we have tried the https://developers.dayforce.com/Build/API-Explorer/Time-Management/Pay-Adjustments/Post-Employee-Pay-Adjustments.aspx <link stripped through migration>. However, the API doesn't trigger Timesheet problem like on the UI. Currently, the API was successful and the pay adjustment was added to the Timesheet. And no problems were produced.
